DNCE’s Year in Review – 2016

2016 has been a monumental year for DNCE. From releasing their first album, to being named best New Artist of the Year, 2016 has been a extremely successful year for the band.

DNCE-Online has broken down their most noteworthy events in this Year in Review.


January 1st – DNCE brought in the New Year by performing on ‘Dick Clarks Rockin’ New Years Eve”

January 31st – DNCE starred as ‘Johnny Casino and Gambler’s’  in Fox’s Live remake of ‘Grease Live.’ DNCE covered the classic ‘Grease’ songs, ‘Maybe (Baby)’ and ‘Born to Hand Jive,’ and ‘Rock and Roll is Here to Stay.’ DNCE also put a 1950’s style spin on their song, ‘Cake by the Ocean.’

February 12th – DNCE performed their hit song ‘Cake by the Ocean’ live on the Ellen Degeneres Show.



March 2nd – DNCE started their small European Tour that made stops in Germany, Norway and France.


March 25th – DNCE were featured in the music video for their remix to friend and label-mate, Hailee Steinfeld’s song ‘Rock Bottom.’


April 3rd – DNCE performed at the 3rd Annual iHeartRadio Music Awards in Inglewood, CA. The band performed a mash-up of their song, ‘Cake by the Ocean,’ and Chic’s song, ‘Le Freak.’ DNCE brought out surprise guest, Nile Rodgers to join the band in singing the mash-up.



May 6th – DNCE performed on the opening night of Selena Gomez’s ‘Revival Tour’ in Las Vegas, NV.


May 17th – DNCE released the official music video for their single, ‘Toothbrush.’ The band was praised for including model, Ashley Graham, in the video.


Throughout the month of June, DNCE continued as opening acts for Selena Gomez’s Revival Tour.



July 31st – DNCE won ‘Choice Party Song’ at the Teen Choice Awards for their song, ‘Cake by the Ocean.’  DNCE also performed on a giant cake during the award show.



August 28th – DNCE took home the ‘Moon Man’ for ‘Best New Artist’ at the MTV Video Music Awards.


September 6th – DNCE teamed up with Poptart’s and Ne-Yo to promote new flavors, Orange Crush and A&W. Poptart’s brought DNCE and Ne-Yo to Chicago to performance at the House of Blues and to promote the new flavors.



October 6th – DNCE’s official game, ‘DNCE the Game,’ was released on iTunes as collaboration between Philymack Games and Kevin Jonas.


October 11th – DNCE released the music video for their single, ‘Body Moves.’


November 6th – DNCE won the EMA for ‘Best Push Artist.’ The band also performed on a stage that hung over the crowed as they performed their songs, ‘Cake by the Ocean,’ and ‘Toothbrush’ during the Award Show.

November 18th – DNCE released their debut self titled album, DNCE.



December 4th – DNCE performed at the Capital FM Jingle Bell Ball in London, England. DNCE continued to perform at multiple Holiday Shows around America throughout the month of December.


December 6th – DNCE performed at the Royal Variety Show in London, England. The band also got the opportunity to meet with the Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall.


December 30, 2016 – DNCE performed at the Orange Bowl Halftime Show at the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami, FL


2016 was an amazing year for DNCE, we can’t wait to see what the band has in store for 2017. We know DNCE will only be getting bigger and better in the upcoming year!
